Stone Forest Tour – Pobiti Kamani Day Trip from Varna
A short drive from Varna takes you to one of the most unusual places in Bulgaria – the Stone Forest, also known as Pobiti Kamani.
Scattered across a sandy landscape, dozens of stone columns rise from the ground, some reaching several meters in height. Their shapes vary – some resemble animals, others look like frozen fountains or ancient ruins – giving the place a slightly surreal atmosphere.
Walking among the formations, you will notice how different each column is, and how the silence and open space add to the overall feeling of the site.
The exact origin of the Stone Forest is still debated, but most theories suggest it formed millions of years ago when this area was covered by the sea.
Simple, strange and unlike anything else in Bulgaria, this is a place that leaves a lasting impression despite its simplicity.
