Hiking the Central Balkan

Day 1: Arrival. Transfer from air-port to Oreshak village

Day 2: Haidushka pesen hut (870 m.) - Kozia Stena hut (1560 m.). 3-4 hours ascent and about 700 m. vertical climb (easy track)

Day 3: Kozia Stena hut (1560 m.) - Beklemeto (1500 m.) - Dermenka hut (1530 m.). 7 hours hike along the ridge, mainly flat, about 300 meters climb and 300 m. descend (easy track)

Day 4: Dermenka hut (1530 m.) - Dobrila hut (1800 m.) - Levski hut (1350 m.) 9 hours hike total for the day, about 300m. vertical climb and 450 m. descend over technical terrain (easy track)

Day 5: Levski hut (1350 m.). - Rai hut (1430 m.) the day starts with a 2 and a half hours climb (500 m.) to about 1850 m. above sea and then 2 and a half hours on flat and descend (400 m.) to Rai hut. 5 hours hiking (easy to medium track)

Day 6: Ray hut (1430 m.) - Botev peak (the highest peak in the Central Balkan range - 2376 m above sea level) a hard almost 1000 vertical meters climb, along hard track, 3-4 hours and then another 30-40 minutes descend to Botev shelter (2160 m.) (medium track)
Botev shelter (2160 m.) - Pleven hut (1400 m.). 3 hours hiking (medium track)
7-8 hours total for the day

Day 7: Pleven hut (1400 m.). - The Water Holes cave (1.30 hours horizontal hike along medium track) - Mazaneto area (900 m.) - a 500 meters descend along a medium hard track (1 hour), about 3 hours total for the day

Day 8: Transfer to Sofia
